U10 - Marc Tooch

Growing up in South Africa I started playing soccer at a young age. Having no TV when I grew up, I was forced to find other extra curricular activities. Being an athletic child I participated in soccer, rugby in the winter and swimming in the summer. I have played both high school and club soccer from a young age and continued playing in the adult
east bay league.
When I was taught the game, soccer practice focused primarily on fitness and less on ball skills. I have come to realize that this is not the correct way to teach young players soccer. Today my philosophy is to have players touch the ball as much as possible. My mode of teaching is to be involved by demonstrating the drills and methods of play before having the players do the drills. Giving positive re-enforcement and corrective instruction during drills.
I have coached, both boys and girls teams in the BYSL forn> 6 years. I currently hold a "E" license. I look forward to getting an E/D the coming season.
I am excited about teaching kids at a more advanced level.

I have been coaching recreation level teams for the last seven years in age groups from U6 to U16. I have a CYSA E and Goalkeeper license. I have also studied multiple books on coaching. My favorite teams are Barcelona and Arsenal. I stress ball movement with my teams and encourage my players to take chances in their dribbling and passing. I have played soccer in an intra-company league in the bay area.
U13 - Greg Coan
This is Greg's eleventh year coaching in Benicia both as a House and Arsenal coach. He has coached Arsenal since 2004, and is returning in 2010 as the U13 Boys head coach. Greg is a registered USFF (futsal) coach and trainer, and he presently holds his "E" License from CYSA. Greg also holds a coaching certificate from Littoral Futebol Club in Santos, Brazil. For the 2009 season Greg was named the CYSA Coach of the Year for District IV.

Having two children and a deep love of the game of soccer has inspired Michael to become a better coach, teacher, and student of the game. He credits University of North Carolina Women’s Coach Anson Dorrance for his style of teaching and coaching team defense, and credits English Premier League Arsenal Gunners coach Arsene Wenger for his style of teaching creativity and collective technical quality in the attacking third.
