Volunteer Opportunities

Our soccer program is reliant upon the invaluable support of volunteers to make the experience of soccer here at Benicia Arsenal FC as good as can be. With the exception of the Director of Coaching, and a few high-level coaches or trainers, the entire program is made up from volunteers.

If you are interested in volunteering for our soccer program please contact your team manager or coach. You may also contact our Board Members for more information. Please check the contacts section of our website.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Volunteer Policy

Benicia Arsenal FC assesses a $200 league participation club fee in an effort to encourage families to provide their time and support in operating the league. Active participation helps us to keep our registration fees as low as possible.

League participation fees paid for the current season are not refundable. However, if the player continues to play soccer the fees will be carried over to the next season, provided the required participation commitment is fulfilled in that particular season. Families with one player in the league are required to perform a minimum of 6 hours of league approved volunteer work. Families with two or more players in the league are required to perform a minimum of 8 hours of league approved volunteer work. Families who receive financial aid from the league are required to perform a minimum of 12 hours of league approved volunteer work.

Again, please understand volunteer fees are not refundable. In addition, no partial credit for hours worked will be allowed.

Please note that additional volunteer hours will be required for competitive team families who participate in Benicia tournaments.

Local Tournament Volunteer Policy - Competitive Teams

If you are on a competitive team who plays in our local boys or girls tournament, the tournament fee will be waived with the following condition: Every family is responsible for a specific number of volunteer hours at the tournament. It doesn't matter if the family or player attends the tournament. It is an individual family responsibility to perform the required hours themselves, or to have the time covered by another adult, even if the family or player does not attend. The only exception to this policy will be for a catastrophic emergent event. Once the Tournament Coordinator establishes how much time is needed per family, the family has four choices:

1. They may cover the hours themselves (must be an adult).
2. They may notify the Tournament Coordinator (or designated tournament volunteer person) in advance that no one from the family will be covering the time. At that point, the family will be assessed the $100 penalty. The fee must be paid before the player may return to any BYSL activity (practices or games).
3. They may notify the Tournament Coordinator (or designated tournament volunteer person) in advance that another adult will be covering the time. The name and contact for the individual must be provided prior to the volunteer assignment.
4. They may notify the Tournament Coordinator (or designated tournament volunteer person) in advance that another adult from their team will be covering the time. The name and contact for the individual must be provided prior the volunteer assignment.
