Volunteers-Recreational Team Volunteer Positions
Benicia Arsenal FC
Assistant Coach
(up to 2 get volunteer credit) – helps the recreational head coach coach the team with guidance from the Director of Coaching and the recreational head coach.
Team Parent
Sends emails regarding opening day, team pictures, upcoming practices and games; coordinates end of season party and gifts; coordinates snack schedule; hands out team uniforms prior to opening day.
Historian
takes photos during practices and games and compiles an end of season photo gift for the families and players to have to remember the season. Also tracks volunteer duties of players’ parents or guardians from the team he/she belongs and submits a list that is approved by the head coach to the Recreational Volunteer Coordinator.
Referee – For U10 and up teams only.
This person shall be a licensed USSF Grade 8 Referee or higher. He/she is required to fund his/her own course for licensing, fund his/her own uniform, and referee at least four games during the season. He/she will be paid for any and all games he/she referees that is U9 or higher. Referee – For U6, U7, and U8 teams only.
There will be a preseason meeting for parent volunteer referees to learn the basics of what you need to do to referee games at these age groups. The meeting is typically given on opening day by the referee coordinator. You typically get a whistle and a black T-shirt with the word “Referee” written in white on it which is normally supplied by the club. A rule book may be supplied as well. Team referees normally referee 5 games per season. The home team provides the ref for games. Visiting team refs DO NOT ref.
