Hello Benicia Arsenal FC Families,

As a way for the club to show appreciation to those volunteers that go above and beyond for the benefit of the competitive league, the Competitive Program Coordinator will now be recognizing two outstanding volunteers at the conclusion of each season (fall and spring).

For the Fall 2019 Season, the following volunteers are being recognized for their time and efforts:

Dora DeGeorgis: Dora has two sons playing for Benicia Arsenal FC, on the 2010 and 2007 boys teams. Dora has been team manager for the 2007 Boys Team Black for the past 2 seasons and has committed many hours scheduling, communicating, and being a positive liaison between the team parents and the coaching staff. During this fall, Dora was instrumental in the success of the boys and girls home tournaments, taking on the role as the Tournament Coordinator. Dora put in countless hours calling and emailing other clubs, DOC's, coaches, and team managers in an effort to promote our tournaments. She also attended regular competitive team representative and tournament planning meetings leading up to the events. Dora managed the cadre of volunteers for the tournaments. She created a sign up and schedule to ensure enough volunteers were at the ready to support both events. Dora was present at the tournaments, from sunrise to sunset, ensuring all tasks were completed and the events ran smoothly, especially at the registration desk. Dora’s diligence and dedication to the club and the competitive league ensured this year’s tournaments were a huge success. Dora has a passion for the success of the club. Dora’s insight and experience with the club was also instrumental in the development of the Team Managers manual.

Connie Manning: Connie has a daughter playing for Benicia Arsenal FC on the 2007 girls team. Connie volunteered (again) to be the club’s Field Liner Coordinator ensuring the BCP fields are prepped and lined accordingly every week for the competitive teams and the recreational teams to play. Connie worked with all competitive team parents, scheduling them on a weekly basis to make sure this critical task was done. Sometimes, Connie had to line the fields herself if there were no volunteers available. During the Benicia Fall Classic Tournament, Connie was the food vendor liaison. Connie solicited food vendors, had them fill out the proper paperwork, and made sure they arrived promptly for the event. Connie’s role was a major contributor in the success of the girls’ tournament. Connie is also a member of the competitive team representative committee. She attended the meetings and provided recommendations and insight for the furtherance of the competitive program.

Both Dora and Connie will be formally recognized at the General Assembly Meeting, Tuesday, December 10th, 2019 at 6:30 pm. The meeting will be held at the Benicia Community Center, 370 East L Street. They will each receive a $50 Benicia Bucks certificate and a recognition award.

Again, on behalf of the Board of Directors and the Benicia Arsenal FC membership, thank you Dora and Connie for all you have done, and continue to do, for the competitive league and for Benicia Arsenal FC!
